I'm a white, male, american, professional artist with two degrees in visual effects.
For a time I worked in Los Angeles on feature films, television shows, and music videos. Filmmaking (and entertainment media in general) will always be my passion. Currently I am working in the medical animation industry in Minneapolis.
This strong interest and background in entertainment (both domestic and international) has given me a clear cross-section of the issues women in particular face when confronted with things that should be simple, such as realistic depictions of femininity and equal representation.
I believe that when it comes to changing the way both genders are thought of in terms of societal norms and representation in media, it must first begin with deep analysis of how we behave on a day to day level.
Few things change in one fell swoop and I must admit that the issues facing gender norms are so deeply rooted that it may be generations before we reach a place as a culture where people are treated as people rather than stereotypes and pre-conceived gender roles.I probably won't change the world, but I would be pleased to be one voice among many who may, at minimum, cause people to rethink their words, actions, and beliefs.
I am an Artist.
I am a Christian.
I am a Feminist.
My cards are on the table.
Let's have some vulgarity-free, civil, and intelligent discussion!
